The Department provides a range of child safety and family support services to Western Australian individuals, children and their families, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern regions of the State.
The Department for Child Protection was established in 2007, as a result of the recommendations of a review of the former Department for Community Development, while its history and core functions stretch back to 1882 when it was the Poor Relief Department. Since its establishment, the Department has benefited from a substantial funding investment from Government and has undergone a period of significant reform. Many of the reforms have been completed, resulting in the Department working more collaboratively with its government and community services sector partners. Some longer term projects remain in progress.

The Department of Environment and Conservation (Western Australia) was established on 1 July 2006, bringing together the Department of Environment and the Department of Conservation and Land Management.
DEC is in the portfolio of the Minister for Environment. The department is also part of the greater environmental community and has distinct Government responsibilities for implementing Government policy within that community. Protection and conservation of the environment is a collective role.
The department has the lead responsibility for protecting and conserving the State’s environment on behalf of the people of Western Australia. This includes managing the State’s national parks, marine parks, conservation parks, State forests and timber reserves, nature reserves, marine nature reserves and marine management areas.

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) is the State’s lead agency in attracting private investment in resources exploration and development through the provision of geoscientific information on minerals and energy resources, and management of an equitable and secure titles systems for the mining, petroleum and geothermal industries.
It also carries prime responsibility for regulating these extractive industries and dangerous goods in Western Australia, including the collection of royalties, and ensuring that safety, health and environmental standards are consistent with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation, regulations and policies.

Ocean Broadband Ltd is a Western Australian company formed in 2004. We are a member of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) scheme and are a licensed carrier for telecommunications traffic in Australia. We are focused on providing wireless broadband internet services to communities that are currently unable to access broadband via ADSL.
Our network spans more than 80,000 km2 of the Perth Metro area and of regional Western Australia combined making Ocean Broadband one of the largest dedicated fixed wireless broadband providers in Western Australia. Ocean Broadband delivers services to both residential and corporate customers, with a particular focus on improving broadband availability and speeds within Western Australia.
